Fulltone Souldbender
Ok, Mike is not making these anymore due to the lack of availability of good Germ's. So, can you all possibly help steer me towards who is making something of the like. I do not want a Fulltone 70's, nor is the 69' really what we are after here. The closest thing i can seem to find so far is Presciption Elec's Yardbox and Rx-Overdrive. Funny thing too I noticed on HC nobody has reviewed either of those since like 99'-2000' but I see they are still being sold.
Suggestions on who/what/where to look? thanks |

Aramat Soul Patch is another good tonebender Mk III type.

BYOC has a limited version with OC76d trannies.Haven't got one yet but I've heard people rave about them. The soulbender seems a little on the mild manered side to me.Better to have spit and not need it.

TimH,
Just took a listen to the BritBender and its a little more over the top for what I am looking for. It needs to be adaptable to both lead and chordal work and still retain the same tone. I think the Prescription units are a little closer.... The BB just doesn't seem to quite capture the sound and vibe that it should, or maybe the sound clips really do not show off the complete range the Brit Bender actually has...Either way I will keep looking. thak you for the suggestion though. |

Yeah see I think the BB has more to offer than the clips show. Both the Britbender and Soulbender are Tonebender clones so in theory they should pull off a similar vibe. I chose the MJM because it has both a gain and tone knob like the SB. Like I said, give me until the end of next week and I'll be more helpful.

I have a Yardbox and I like it. I think it captures the essence of the originals, but has a couple of tweaks that help you dial it in.
Another one that I like the clips of is the Retroman Lola ... I think he "gets it". I'll be honest, there are some pedals like this that people like, but when I listen to the clips, they don't seem like those early Beck and Page tones.

Is Scotty's (Pro Analog) MK II fuzz a Soulbender clone, or am I f'ed in the head on this one? It's a great, great sounding fuzz. I'm just not sure if it's exactly what you're after. Someone here should know. I get my fuzzes confuzzled.

jgyn,
Thanks you for the tip towards Aramat. I am at the moment very much considering getting both the TrebleMaster and SoulPatch. The SoulPatch seems a bit closer than the BritBender does and I really like the sound and dynamic of the Treblemaster. Given the great sound samples the risk to buy/try seems low. The Prescription Yardbox is still being considered but I really like what Aramat has to offer and with a very fair price. I never cared much for the T808 sound but the Green Machine too sounds pretty decent. jcshirke, Thanks for the nod toward ProAnalog. I have looked at Scotty's work in the past and I think he does build some very fine products and though his products may deserve the asking price I need to get the most for the budget here. A couple years ago I almost went for a DualDrive. I do not think I will find a retailer carrying the Aramat products where I live but i feel confident I will be taking the chance and order both the SoulPatch and TrebleMaster. |

I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything, but if you're really interested in the SoulBender (which is my main Fuzz by the way) then look around and get one of those.
I find it to be very versitile and able to cut through very easily. |

If you're interested, I have a mint, in the box Soulbender ser# 202 made in 12-96 (when there were lots of good trannys available), that I need to sell. I paid $250 BIN on ebay a few months ago and will let it go for $210 shipped. It sound great, but I'm in a major financial pinch. I tried to PM you but I don't see that as an option in your account. I'll be glad to send pics if you're interested.

I have a throbak stonebender which is super flexible and nails all those tones but also have a demarco klonebender 2 that kills. Warm fat spitty when needed. Ps the demarco is for sale cheap because I got it here cheap. If you arw interested pm me. Its less than the ones advertised. Sorry for the spam. I love tonebenders. Ps. Don't splurge for the dam. I did anmd sold it quickly for a profit. Both the stone and the klone put it to shame for pennies on the dollar.
