'63 SG jr clip

I just got a new guitar and took a pass over this blues backing I found here(Thanks Althrax) to see how it is.

I kind of like the tone I got. By using microphone compression I got a bunch of room tone mixed with the speaker. Pretty cool. My playing?...I wish I could stay focused longer. I think I need to be playing a song rather than just jamming "blues"- Hence the "wank" moniker.

Signal chain:

Guitar, cord, amp-

Here's a clip and a pic of the guilty party!

I wish I lived in NYC. I would be at your doorstep in a hot minute taking lessons.

Loved the playing

Nice score, Jack.
Wasn't '63 the last year of the widest necks?

Best, Pete.

You'd have to push me out of the way.

That is just too tasty for words. Great feel and dynamics in your playing.
I love a great p 90 tone.
As for neck size,63 and 64 had the largest necks. Some 64's ive owned had the biggest neck of them all.my 62 SG/LP has a killer neck too, but not as big as the 63/64's.

Loved the playing...but I hate you for posting the picture! I stared at a 63 SG jr. in cherry red hanging on the wall at the local music store for months in "63" until my dad finally bought it for me as my 1st good electric! It went away for rent money in 1971....and the rent was cheap!! :-(

Mondoslug-

Nah...I don't have the blues- I'm a happy guy. I just didn't want to just blast licks- this gives it some context. BTW I've got to say it's a good guitar-

Pete-

The neck is wide and full, not narrow or skinny at all. The guitar is so light- light like 5.5 lbs light!

I appreciate the kind words re: the playing and tones- this is a tough crowd for sure on that front. As far as lessons- man I do that over the phone and via email and iChat. PM me.

Dave-

The amp is just my Park Lead 30. It's up about half way on both the master and preamp section.

Cheers-

Jack

Great stuff jack

Love how the roll off was super clean and and tight at the top, and how it transitioned into the grittier tone

Nice balance of jazz lines relevant to the changes with straight up blues inflections

Loved the tone

Did you comment on what amp it was yet?

Yes I did... but here it is in full:

Guitar, cord, park 30, SM 57, chandler Mic pre (Abbey Road), Chandler compressor (33609 clone) to Pro tools HD.

That's the chain-

Thanks!
