There is no best. I think JJ's are unreliable and aren't the best sounding, but I gurantee someone will come in here saying they love JJ's. Just the way it goes.

What kind of amp do you have?

SED EL34s have a great reliability record and many people love the tone. The Groove Tubes EL34Ms are another good contender.

SED winged c's great sounding tube, aggressive midrange very dynamic but not as much bottom end as compared to the jj e34l.

The SED is a great tube for more of the vintage vibe. For higher gain stuff then I tend to prefer the JJ's.

I like the "winged-C" (Svetlana factory, St. Petersberg), JJE34L (for the BIG bottom), JJEL34 (for the brighter, chimier sound), and I'm getting to like the JJ KT77s as well, for a fatter, meatier sound, closer to their 6V6S's in a higher power package.

I've burned through too many EH EL34's to bother with them.

My faves, though, are the old Teslas.

rooster.
