EV SRO speaker in deluxe reverb

A good friend suggested an ev sro for my 68 DR (thanks Lando) Does anyone own a deluxe reverb that they're are running one of these in? Any clips out there of the EV SRO in a deluxe?

Also, has anyone had trouble with the EV SRO being too heavy for their baffle in their BF Fender DR?

I had one in an old bassman converted to 1x12. I found it to be extremely bright, with not enough bottom end for my tastes. It was cool combined with a big old Fane bass speaker though. I wouldn't worry about the weight.

I had two of the white can SROs in a Twin Reverb for awhile. I remember them as being very full sounding with a big bottom, but it's been a few years. Two of them were extremely heavy in a Twin, but they sounded fantastic! You probably wouldn't have a problem with the baffle in a Deluxe. I ran a 12L, which is also real heavy, in a Deluxe Reverb for years without any problems, though I eventually decided I liked lower wattage speakers in that amp.

A good choice, however be sure you are getting real SRO's not the other 2 EV SRO versions which are just EVM 12Ls. Remember also that the original SRO had a feathered PAPER edge cone. These are hard to find simply because they are old and worn out ,and no they were not "blow proof". Most of the original white coffee can SROs that I see have been reconed w/ EVM 12L kits and allthough they sound O.K. not anywhere as nice as the originals. I used to run a pair of '64 Deluxe Reverbs w/ SROs... very nice tone. Thanks

I have an EV SRO that I use in my '66 Princeton Reverb from time to time. I had a baffle made for a 12" speaker, and found I really liked the PR with the SRO. Most of the time I use my 10" Jensen, since when I use the PR I am trying to keep the volume down. The PR with the SRO can be very strong.

[My PR has the Paul C and Stokes mods. It can hang with most DRs, and sound very good.]
