Original owner 60 watt reverb graphic combo from '76, basic settings for me for most guitars go something like this:

With the guitar in input 2
vol 1- 0
vol 2- 6ish
Master - just under 3
T - just under 7
B - just under 3
M - around 8

Presence around 7, but my amp may not have the same presence circuit yours does.

From there you're just turning things up.
The gain boost on the Mark1 is not subtle, and requires a good non-microphonic preamp tube in V1 to be useful at stage volume.

If you like the gain you're getting from vol 2 dimed, you can keep that basic vibe going with even more gain by plugging into the number 1 input, and turning vol 1 up to about 3.
After that, the conventional wisdom for running both gains on that amp is to run them together, 4 and 4, 6 and 6, etc. "balanced"
The sweet spot on those volumes is around 7, and if you can take the punishment, all three volumes at 7 is the classic three pounds of crap in a one pound bag raging Boogie combo lead guitar thing.
The beauty andthe terror as Johnny Thunders would say. . .

I wouldn't start there with a 100 watt head and a 4-12 tho. . .

peace sk

IIRC, Larry Carlton mentioned the "777" in a GP interview back in the 70's. I saw him live back then, and his Boogie always sounded great. I owned a Mark I, and even without reverb or a graphic EQ, it was a sweet amp. Liked to be played loud though.

My favorite amps..

The setting that works best with my guitar - mahogany strat with EMG S's - Treb - 8, Mid - 5, Bass - 2, Volume 1 and 2 - 7, Master as loud as you can have it. Presence 5-6.

i have a 76 (i think) 100/60 head, no EQ. i generally run with settings similar to kimock's, maybe a bit more vol 2. i have found an EV filled OB 1-12 works best for me.

mine sounds a bit dull at lower volumes but opens up nicely as you go past 3 or 4 on the master. downside: that is usu. too much for most of my gigs.
