Hellatone 30

So is the Hellatone 30 really just a Celestion G12H broken in. I'm thinking about getting a G12h to go with a old silver Bulldog but have gigs every weekend and don't really want to wait for the G12H to break in. Would this be the ticket? OR is the Scumback H75 worth spending the extra money on? $159 vs. $89. Any options? Thanks!!

Yes. But it is a great sounding speaker just the same. I have a Hellatone 30 in my new Louis Electric Tremblelux which sounds killer. I ordered a Scumback H75 for it but only because I wanted slightly less headroom and volume. Other than that I'd be keeping the Hellatone 30 (broken in G12H30) in it. It's pretty amazing how good a stock G12H30 sounds. Ted Weber makes a really good version too.

+1 on the Hellatone 30! A lot of other similar or more expensive stuff can't beat it (but it still needs another 20 - 50 hours of breaking in to reach it's "peak").

Yes. If you peel off the Hellatone label, there's a Celestion label underneath it.

I've had a few of the Hellatone 30s, great speakers. But then, I like the H30 sound...

I didn't even know what a Hellatone was until Lou loaded one in my
KR 10-12. It sounds deliciously broker in!
I'm really want to try a Scumback, maybe next amp,

Never tried a Scumback, but my Hellatone 30 sounded great right out of the box.

I just put a Hellatone 30 in my Blues Jr. It sounds pretty good with distortion. But it sounds kind of "muddy" or dark when I play clean. I have done most of theBillM mods and the amp sounded great with the stock speaker.

Will the speaker brighten up once its broken in more? Thanks!

By breaking it in they legally can relabel it. By relabeling it they can advertise any price they want regardless what celestion sets as the MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). Then everyone who wants a celestion goes to him, instead of somewhere else. They make money by selling alot of speakers at a slightly reduced pirce instead of selling a few speakers at a slightly higher price. Forget the speakers, thats the kind of business model and tact is genius.
