SF bassmans in general are sleeper amps. I have heard of a good number of people still using a Super Bassman or Bassman 135 for bass, go figure.

So which channel are you using on your Super bassman, the normal channel?

Not much... SF Fenders have a bad reputation (kinda like Joan Jett - sorry couldn't help myself). :NUTS Unless you wanted a "new" handwired then it would cost you a fortune. I think most of the rep comes from those horrible (IMO) push/pull ultralinear late '70's models. Yuck.

There's a local guy who has been using a Bassman 10 for years - he sounds great.

Although I really do prefer most BF fenders to the SF models they are still great deals on the used market. Get 'em while you can.

sf fenders have a bad reputation? that just never sat well.

i think a lot of people would beg to differ. many silver faces are exactly the same as blackfaces.

I used to get some pretty decent tones from a Bassman 10. Plus it looked cool.

The price delta between BF and early SF is a joke in terms of tone value. Yes the BF's are the best but many early SF's are great great amps.

Any well set up PTP Fender from those days is going to sound great cause they all have that classic Fender tone. Yes, there are favorites but at minimum they all sound really good.
