I didn't know where to put this and I didn't want it to get lost amongst the pedals. I've had some numbness in the fingers, pain in the wrists, elbow and shoulder. I went to the doctor and we found the trigger point in the shoulders for the whole thing.
Physical therapy and stuff recommended posture for treatment, but some of these guitars are heavy (like Les Pauls, and Schecters). I've pretty much only been playing my SG lately, and started treatment for rotator cuff muscles. Still the solution involves posture. I've heard about some more ergonomic straps. One is like a backpack. I think it's this one: http://www.slider-straps.com/STR/guitar.html Anyone have any experience with this? or anything similar? |

I use one with an 8-string Warr guitar - so I can't comment on 6-string use. I've had similar symptoms but never tried the Slider for them. If you really want to do it right, though, find an Alexander Technique teacher. It'll cost some money but could be the most effective option in the end.

You could also try those neoprene pads, like the Comfort Strapp.

I tried the slider, didn't like it at all, it got in the way of my right hand & arm.
For a heavy guit like a Lester, I use a 3 1/2 - 4" leather strap with sheepskin pad, it's comfy and spreads out the weight very well. Jon Last edited by Jon C; 04-21-2008 at 01:49 PM. |
