A good "choppy" tremolo pedal

I just recently got rid of my 90s vox ac30. i really dug the trem on it but with only three speeds I rarely got to use it. so now im wanting a pedal that gives me that really choppy sounding trem with a lot more flexibility. any ideas?

I've been through 4 or 5 now and believe it or not, a regular old Boss TR-2 does a really good choppy trem. The EHX Holy Stain does it pretty well too. Both are very reasonably priced.

Menatone Pleasure Trem 5000. Trust me. It's why I got it. I didn't want a subtle trem. I wanted a helicopter in a can.

Had a EH pulsar (the old big brick of a pedal, not the newer ones). It was good. Did the choppy thing pretty well and other trems sounded good but it didn't bypass well and plus it took a lot real estate on my pedalboard.

I didn't really use it much cuz I hate lugging it around but I still have it lying around cuz I'm having a hard time selling it haha.

But I picked up an Empress FX Trem. I'm loving it so far. Tap tempo is nice to have around. I love using trem mainly for the choppy sound with my wah. It has a rhythm function which is similar to the zvex seek pedals. Haven't really messed around with that. A bit pricey though for a trem, but gets the job done. My only gripe with it I wish it had a smoother tremolo for the other settings. But I think I'm just being picky like usual.

Other trems that peaked my interests were the cusack tap-a-whirl and the gig-fx chopper and catalinbread's trem (I forgot the name of it). If I lost the Empress trem, I'd probably check those out first.

yeah i was kinda thinking along the lines of boss. maybe the keeley modded one. back when i first started playing guitar i had one. i cant remember how it sounded...
i do like the stereo function of the pulsar though. but i only have one amp. so no stereo there.

and helicopter in a can is a nice way of putting it. gonna check into menatone.

other suggestions are welcome.

EH stereo pulsar FTW!
it does chop so good it goes past chop if you turn the depth past 1/2 oclock and it starts to go into ring mod-esque sounds.
its a cool trem it doesnt effect your guitars sound, just chops it up and spits it out the same.

Man, that valcoder sounds awesome!

The Voodoo Lab tremolo can do it too, and has tons of flexibility. Definitely better than the Boss or EHX, IMO.

You said flexibility - for me that narrows it down to the Empress Tremolo, which is awesome.

the Dr.Scientist Tremolessence was the best choppy trem I've used. It's got a fast speed square wave that can be mixed to 100% which creates an awesome stuttering effect.
