Name This Delay!!!! Attention all delay connoisseurs!

I had a deep blue delay that I sold ( and miss ). I replaced it with a ad999 but its NOT what Im looking for. It seems to change the tone a bit in the upper mids, raise the level/volume, and augment the ods im running into it in some way. ( at about unity )

But anyway Im looking for:

1 Repeats that DONT step on themselves if you get out of rythym with the repeats. ( something the dbd did well )

2 NO increase ( or decrease ) in volume when engaged.

3 Medium size box or smaller ( 4 or 5 inch wide or less )

4 Warm sound but doesnt muffle the overall highs too much if at all.

5 NO augmentation of the EQ of the base guitar tone ( repeats aside )

7 A delay that doesnt have to be in a loop but that sounds good AFTER OD's.

Did I just describe the dbd or is there another? I have heard the analogman ar20dlxl or the cmatmods deelay would be great, but the AM is very hard to find.

Is the keeley ad-9 warmer than the dbd? Freakshow Digidelay? HBE mimic 2?

Thanks guys!

I've had the AD999, DBD, AD900, Timefactor, Analgoman and some others. I would recommend the Analogman 600ms the most for what you are looking for. It is my favorite after my AD900. It actually does more of what you're looking for than the AD900. Keep looking in the emporium, they're out there.

Yeah, they're out now... at least of the 600ms version.

You know, the BYOC delays are pretty darn good. I love the oscillation on my older 3 knob model.

Ive heard good things about all the byoc pedals. Are they exact clones or better interpretations of other pedals?

Memory lane... yea. I should give this one some more attention. I had a diamond halo and it was a killer pedal... I traded up to a swirly ss mojo vibe, but it was a good pedal. The memory lane gets alot of attention up here, but since it was a $ and bigger pedal, I didnt take it as a option. Something Ive come to realize.. those are two poor ass reasons not to buy a pedal. lol

I'm just curious why you want to run it in front of your ODs?

From my experience, ODs will almost always become muddy when you are running a delayed signal into them. However, if you send the signal through the OD first and then use your delay at the end to add delay to your overall chain, things are typically fine. It just seems like running the delay into the ODs will make finding a delay that 'sounds good with your rig' a lot harder than it should be.

I have the 300ms version...and love it!! I actually lucked into it when it first came out. Now they have the 600ms!!!....to mod or not to mod, that is my question. Anyone try both and think that 300ms more is worth the 75$ for the mod?

I only have that delay so i can't really compare what 300ms more actually would give me.

+1 to that...

I have my OCD v4 and FD2 w/mosfet infront of both my delays...Have you thought to look at the new reptile delay by T-rex?

I have both. My usual delay setting is between 350ms - 400ms and I leave it on most of the time. So, for me it was a no brainer to get the XL version.

What about the Akai Headrush E2?
I'm a HUGE fan of its work.

Yea... I knew that those AM delays wouldn't last long. Especially after I broadcasted it here. ;-)

If you use primarily slapback type short echoes, stay with the 300ms - the 600ms in my experience didn't do the short echoes nearly as well.
