sparkling burgundy
I'm by no means an expert, but I think that color is "sparkling burgundy", which tended to turn into a copper color over the years. Serial number seems to indicate '68 according to this: http://www.provide.net/~cfh/gibson.html but who knows?

I played a mid 60s Trini Lopez while visiting Wildwood guitars that had turned something similar to this color.

Yes, that's sparkling burgundy, an opaque finish totally different from the translucent cherry finish. It was introduced in the late 60's specifically for 335's that used improperly dried wood, which showed signs of checking.
