Question What delay for always on, subtle effect???

i really need a delay pedal (or something!) to add just a bit of depth and space to my clean guitar playing. something i could leave on all or most of the time just to add that extra something to my sound. i already have an EHX SMM/H for wackier and longer delays, so i just want something more subtle. small footprint is a MUST.

so what do i need? analog or digital? mxr carbon copy? malekko? CMATMODS deeeelay?????

thanks for the help!

I'll second that, has the right tone so it sits in the background, without sounding really 'analog'.

I used a DL10 for years and years - wonderful, warm sounding delay - never/seldom turned it off. These days the Carbon Copy is filling that roll for me - quite nicely too.

I used to use a Memory Lane for this; then I could tap tempo and always have it in time with the song if that's what I wanted. Really warm, spacious sounding in the background.

But I had another Memory Lane for a more effected sound, and ended up not being able to justify that much money in delays on my board...unfortunately.

gotta be analog IMHO, the repeats just melt into the original signal...Digital is crisper, more noticeable. I use an AD900 and a DD20, and the AD900 being true analog just has something extra warm and subtle about it that I really dig even over the analog model in the DD20, which is not bad at all...

thanks for all the responses! i think am probably leaning towards analog delay because i want some extra warmth in my clean playing. right now my guitar sounds almost TOO clean and hi fi (hamer newport pro > effects > mesa boogie mark 1 reissue), so i want to warm it up. is the carbon copy my best bet?

I quit looking when I got my Moog. I use it most of the time. It does a great subtle - and great wack!

Toneworks Korg Dynamic Echo...They don't make them anymore but you can get them cheap on the Ebays.
