Question Volume Pedal that doesn't kill tone?

Can someone recommend a volume pedal that won't kill my tone? I am currently using an older ernie ball volume pedal-and the signal is much stronger when I'm not going through it.

Some will recomend passive volume pedals but here is the truth. If it don't need power ie (batteris, addaptor) its going to suck your tone. If its doesn't need batteris your geting a tone suck. And what stinks is all the volume pedals that are active are exspensive.

My Ernie Ball Pan/Volume Pedal doesn't suck tone at all. Well, it does when you're in Pan mode and you actually are sweeping, right in the middle it does a bit of tone suck till it comes out the other end. But the heel and toe of the pan don't, and none of the sweep of the volume setting sucks tone.

For Me...

I never used one in all the years I did blues and rock bands. Now I'm doing a lot of P&W. So I need it for swells ( never could get it right w/ guit vol. ) and buliding crescendo stuff. I got a EB Jr. mostly because it didn't break the bank and I saw that a lot of others used it. I A/B'ed it with and without it and.... I really couldn't tell any difference. Now, my disclaimer is that I'm 54 years old. My hearing is pretty good. Actually better now than 20 years ago when I suffered from otosclerosis ( fusing of three inner ear bones). Surgeries 8 years ago freed me from having to wear hearing aids in both ears for 15 years. YMMV Good Luck!

With a passive volume pedal, you're adding resistance in parallel to your guitar. (Akin to adding another volume pot.) That's going to reduce the total resistance seen by your pickups and shift the resonant peak of your guitar's frequencies downward. In other words, you're going to lose some highs. Just the nature of the beast.

If it's a problem, you'll need to put a buffer in line before your volume pedal and then look to use a low-impedance (i.e. 25k) volume pedal. Another option is to put the VP in your FX loop instead of out front.

I went through the search a few months ago and wound up with a goodrich. Very nice, no tone loss, tank like construction

I think mine is the H10K Active. I chose the H (high profile) because it seemed the pedal steel players prefer the low profile when seated. I don't sit so the opposite seemed appropriate. It does use a 9V battery and I don't like to change batteries so I drilled a hole in the side of the bottom casing and ran a 9V clip adapter from my PP2+

It also has two outputs for stereo or one for tuner

LOL...you guys...

I just got an earnie ball jr and I have a/b'd it to death, with it in and out of my chain (right before my delay) with a boss tuner plugged into it and with out the tuner plugged in, and at all different volumes, clean, dirty, real dirty, dry, wet, wet and dirty, wet and really dirty, with tromolo flanger...and the only time it kills tone is when the pedal is in the down position, it kills ALL the tone hahaha

this pedal does NOT suck tone

EB passive volume pedals suck tone when plugging straight in. It can be proven audibly, and on paper. Whether you can hear it or not is subjective. If you can't detect any high-end loss, count yourself blessed......er, I mean, lucky...or maybe not, I dunno.
