Avatar cabs versus...

I can purchase an Avatar cab with Greenbacks for around $530 shipped but the same cab from Marshall lists for like $900 or more. Is it just their name because I've heard that Marshall's post-JCM800 cabs aren't that great. Is the Avatar a good cab, especially for the $$$?

I figure some of this info will be available if I search so I'll go look now!

The avatar cabs are great, yes you would be paying more for the name by buying marshall. I use avatar also

I'd buy a Avatar "Vintage" style cab before a Marshall any day.

Avatar is a great company. Dave is good customer service...

If you feel you are taking a risk because its a company you have not tried or heard much of then stick to getting a used name brand... I kept hearing good things about Avatar but I opted for a used Orange 4x12 for the same deal... Sometimes I don't like taking risks as much...

but nothing beats their prices for NEW cabs (unless you have an endorsement or something)

The Avatar Vintage 4x12 is pretty similar in sound to my Bogner 4x12. Those Avatars will kick the crap out of modern Marshall stuff.

Avatar cabs are an excellent value and are as good as any Marshall cab.

Well made cabs at an excellent price. Make sure you get the vintage 4X12. The traditional model is too small IMO.Bob

Just do the Avatar and get it over with. Use the extra cash on another toy...

I have both Marshall cabs and Avatar cabs. They're great cabs, by both manufacturers. I like having the Marshall cab to match my Marshall amp head, but other than that I'd buy an Avatar cab.
