Funny new trend "wear" vs. "relicing"

More and more ads, even here, are replacing the words "light wear" with "light relicing". Some even refer to "real relicing" achieved through years of playing

It's been being done for some time now. But i prefer "natural relicing" to "real relicing".

Is it a trem arm or a wammy bar? Pretty sure they mean the same thing.

It's all good, at the end of the day it's just a beat up guitar anyway you slice it (literally sometimes), and whoever's playing it is only as good as their last lick.

No not quite the same thing as trem arm or whammy bar. More like saying Scarlett Johanssen has "natural augmented breasts" whereas Pamela Anderson has "augmented breasts"...

As I understand it "relic" is actually a Fender trademark as applied to guitar wear. The word never meant "wear" before they started using it, still doesn't, really.

Actually, relicing means nothing. It isn't even a real word, which is why it sounds so silly. You can't just throw 'ing' at the end of any old noun and call it english

Synonyms for relic including words like oldie and artifact. How does artifacting sound? Another synonym for relic is ruin, but that one does actually work, literally anyway.

Why not? New words are created all the time.

You don't believe me? Google it.

Question

I just bought a 35 year old guitar and it has more bumps and damage than it has actual playing wear (apart from a well worn in 2nd fret). If it would have been my own guitar, it would probably be the other way round. So it's an instrument "with wear" but it looks "reliced". Still tasteful or not? And then, it's not damaged by me, so does it still have mojo?
Ah, who cares about definitions anyway....

With the range of "relicing" these days, they should rename it "abused".
And "mojo", there's another over-used term.
