High E getting stuck on string tree or nut?
So every couple of days or so, the high e on my 60s Strat relic goes whacky. After I bend the string behind the nut a couple of times, the string reverts back to normal (or closer to normal than it was).
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I suspect it's because the string is either getting stuck on the tree or the nut. Any way to fix it besides taking it to a tech?

Maybe try a little vasoline on the tree and the nut. Could be a burr either on the nut or the tree.

If that still doesn't help, it's probably a burr on the nut.
The easy approach to the nut is to take a feeler gauge of the appropriate size and rub the edge across some rough sandpaper a few times, making it a little rough, and make a pass or two through the nut and down toward the headstock. That should clean it up.
