I'm uncertain. I was thinking either a Mosrite guitar played by Ricky Wilson or a Stratocaster played by Jimi Hendrix but then I'd be thinking too much of how I didn't sound like them. So I'll just say that I'd like a rare Mosrite guitar owned by someone who I don't know. Does that still count?

Would that not make it the perfect Holy Grail?
Completely unattainable to everyone. Best we can do is a copy that may or may not be to the same specs?

I don't think my Grail would be a complete guitar.
I like different specs from so many.

It may be a combo of traits.

Mark Knopfler's Stratty Cleans.
Page's Live LP sound.
Chet Atkins Filtertron Sound.
Clapton's tone from 24 nights. (voodoo man)
Gibbons from waitin for the bus
Volkart's Tele tone
Santana's thickness
EVH's 1978 tone (and I love the feel of a raw neck)
Jeff Beck's whammy work
YJM's clean arp tone.
Harrison's Strat tones.

Yeah. I'm a mess.

That Tele above is hot chit! It was on the cover of Fretboard Journal about 6 months ago! Great story as well. Now as for the Holy Grail, well I own two of them! My 1988 Mosrite M88, and my 2007 Les Paul 1956 R6 Historic Ebony Top.

For acoustics, I'd take Clapton's old 000 Martin (42 style?), or Gene Autry's D-45.

As far as electrics are concerned, probably George Harrison's first Country Gentleman would do it for me. Or maybe one of Nokie Edwards' Ventures model Mosrites.
