Does anyone make a Plexi-type pedal with PUNCH?

You know what I mean, a big wallop "punchy" tone that slaps you in the nuts (like a real Super Lead?) I tried a Menatone KOTB and it sounded really wimpy to me through my Twin Reverb. No punch at all and just bland...

I'm curious if anyone makes a powerfuly punchy sounding Plexi-style pedal. Does the Box of Rock have more punch than the KOTB?

Thanks,

Chris

PS - Yes, I overused the term "punch", but I'm hoping that gets my point across.

I have one of those! Even though I've only had one for a few days and am still learning the pedal, I have to say it rocks!!! However, it doesn't sound like a plexi to me, though. To me, it has a modded Marshall tone that I'm digging, but not a vintage plexi-style tone.

I had a BOR. It does the dimed plexi thing well. Well, more like a dimed JTM45 which it was modeled after. Worked well into a clean Marshall but not so well into anything else IMO.

Carl Martin Plexitone has some real "thump". Some people complain of too much bass thump.

Surprised the KOTB didn't work for you. I have one and a Kar Krash which both sound fantastic through my Aiken amp. I don't don't believe a twin can be transformed into a plexi with any pedal really. Its a different animal of an amp. I have tried my Menatones in friends amps and while they sounded good It just reinforced to me that the pedal is really just the icing on the cake but its amp that is clearly the heart of the sound.

Yeah, I hear ya. I mean, the Twin is (obviously) an open back 2x12" combo that just can't sound like a full stack. But the Twin does have quite a bit of punch to it when using a pedal that doesn't take that away.

I have a Wampler Plextortion pedal that has alot of punch and it turns the Twin into a monster, but despite being called a "Plextortion", I don't hear the traditional plexi tones in it.

Ehhh, I'm probably looking for something that doesn't exist. I just don't want to have to dig through hundreds of pedals to find it. Thanks for all the input!

an Aiken isn't a non master Marshall, it is more Fender sounding, so the KOB would be nice with it..

Cary, the Aiken is a master volume amp but not high gain by any means. It sounds very plexi to me but you don't have to dime it like a plexi to get some goods. To me it sounds best using some drive off the amp and a pedal, cranking the master volume and attenuating it. It doesn't sound anything like a Fender though.
