Thumbs up P&W gang:tweak this setup

What would you change or leave alone?
Anything in the order of the pedals?
Would you sell one and replace it with something else?
would you bring in anything from the "bullpen"? or just sell those off?
Our P&W team plays more modern stuff most of the time...
United Live, Chris Tomlin, et al

Yes, there is a cable from the loop/bypass to the GE-7...just not in the picture.

Order: BypassLooper/Vox Clyde McCoy Wah > GE-7 > GGG Bluesbreaker clone> MI Audio Crunchbox V1 > CH-1 (for vibe) > AD-80 Analog delay > DD-3 > Verbzilla > TU-2 > BYOC Conf-Booster with my mods
(The chorus is a loaner, using it with the "short-cable-to-nowhere" as a vibe pedal).

The Bullpen

Clockwise from top: Footswitch for amp, LS2, Bypass looper with tuner switch/out.

The Crunchbox and the AD-80 stick around for sure.
The Verbz and DD-3 most likely stay as well.
Anything else, I am more open to changing.

Post yours if you so desire, and everyone can swap tweaks!
Probly works best if you aren't 100% sure of your setup.

Looks good to me. I have the super cheapo setup for my church rig...

Monte Opto CS-3 Comp >> Bad Money >> CE-3 Chorus >> Dano Chicken Salad Vibe >> Ibanez Digital Delay >> Boss PSM looper going to a TU12 tuner. All in a Boss BCB-60 pedal case. Amp is a stock Peavey Valve King 1x12 combo. Works for me and this past weekend survived a lightning strike that took out our AC and main computer that is used for recording and running the music displays.

I'd probably want a lower gain drive of some sort in front of the BBB and Crunch Box to fill that empty spot.

that BBB is fairly low gain, isn't it? the first 40% of the gain pot
offers little-to-no dirt...

Hey frankencat, why the TU-12? I see a fair amount of these around...
what's the draw for you over a stompbox?

one question then i'll post my tweakz to it,

what do you use the EQ pedal for ?? how is this different than the clean boost

Answer that for me and i'll give my 2cents.

I read some where not to do this...because of the possibility of overdriving
your pedals AFTER the boost. Recently I've noticed my boost adding
as NASTY harmonic-ish sort of tone...I think it had to do with my signal to the
amp just being to hot over all (between my EQ usually sending a too-high signal,
the dirt being turned up, then add the boost = really hot signal..I think.)
So I'm trying to turn the AMP up and everything else down.
I'll swap it round tho...what is the reasoning behind doing it one way or another?

riddle me this Batman....

I use the EQ to fatten and tweak the tone. Sometimes when going live, I tend
to notice more obnoxious frequencies at higher volumes...or notice the lack
of a frequency. So I use the GE-7 to add fullness, take away harshness, etc.
I've noticed they don't get much love around here either...is there a better
alternative in the same price range? Aside from "the bullpen" I don't have many
assets.
The EQ ended up in front of the dirt pedals...which is not "correct".
At the moment, I'm liking the tone, but I know it creates some unique issues.
Why does the GE-7 not get much love? What does a mod improve?
Why do people usually go a different route?
feel free to re-educate me!

kool,

I love my GE-7, i know why people hate them, thats kool too, whatever gets you there is fair game (if you get me!?!). If your gonna use a EQ pedal try it at the END of the chain as a tweakz for the whole sound. at least try it, and see if you like that better.

also put the booster after the drives like wah-> GGG-> CB-> Boost -> etc

I think you'll like the sound better that way. Also you might want to try having the boost and the EQ one after each other, with the EQ pedal giving you a little boost so when you have to do things which have to stand out a little you have that. then the booster for your main lead sound.

i would also say try out a compressor that might add the fatness that the EQ pedal is adding now. also it just might be a great addition to your board.

Look into a delay with Tap tempo so you can do more of the dotted 8st that both dan (tomlin) and Micheal Guy C (united) use both borrowed from U2 of couse!!

just my stuff.

That said i have alot of pedals and always changing this and that for PandW stuff. I like overdrives instead of Distortion as Overdrives are warmer and softer and sounding rough and sharp edged like distortions doesnt seem to work for church.

Also its a journery so enojoy finding your tone and your feeling!!

Hey AJ,

I swapped that boost pedal round...to before the delays...I like it!
The booster is also behind the drives...so it boosts volume overall
not just adding more dirt to the pedals.

I also checked out mods for the GE-7...given how cheap it is to buy a Monte Allums
kit, that may be the way to go...modding it sounds fun, and beneficial.
I'll try it at the end and see what it does..the whole "My TU-2 at the end of my
chain sounds awesome!" thread is what got the TU-2 to the end of the line.

For the tap tempo delay...
how does a dotted 8th work? I've been stoked to get this AD-80 up and running
to do the United/Tomlin U2 rip offs...but I have to be honest...I have no idea
where to start eve.
The AD-80 is something I LIKE...but I'm not married to it yet.
The thought of turning it into a DD-20 or a DD-7 did cross my mind...
but we'll see.
What's your recipe for dialing in two delays?

thanks for the tips so far...learning more is always a goal here.
