LP Pickups question

So I have this old Les Paul...




1975 Deluxe model, which originally had the mini-buckers in it.
Someone did a nice job of putting the larger ones in it before I ever bought it.
The bridge bucker is a Dirty Fingers...that sucker is HOT HOT HOT...a nice sounding pup for sure.
The neck...well, I don't know what the neck it.
Last I checked, the bridge was at 15K ohms, and the neck was at 7K.
To me, sometimes the neck pup sounds a bit...ambiguous. not a lot of character. Kinda fat, sorta rich, not real intense.
I want a neck pup that sounds like this:

I even have the same amp as this guy and I don't get neck pup tone like that.
Do his sound like '57 Classic pups? That nice singing sustain and tone?
To me, it sounds fat, rich and intense, way better then mine.
How can I tell what's in the neck slot on mine? Are there better pups then
the '57 Classics for that sort of tone?
any ideas?

I've used a Duncan Alnico II in the neck and a Custom Custom in the bridge and thought it was a tremendous sounding combo for my les paul. However, I put the stock burstbucker pros back in when I was thinking about selling the guitar, but I kind of like the way the guitar sounds stock as well. I've tried the 57' classics also. Great sounding pickups. But on a budget, or even not on a budget, the Alnico II's sound great in the neck. Plenty of sustain without being overly hot, nice midrange. If you're near a guitar store that carries the new Slash les paul, you can hear what the Alnico's sound like. He uses them in the neck and bridge.
