Question Strat guys/gals: What do you think of the SD Little 59er in the bridge?

Looks interesting!
Discuss please.

I used to have one in my Strat for a while and it sounded great. Sounded like a PAF type pickup, and made my strat that much more versatile.

I would have to say no.

Depending on what your doing.

If your looking to make your Strat a Les paul... well you'll need a Les Paul for that.

If your looking for a P-90 sound maybe...

But it seems like there are a lot of people for the little 59 and a lot of people who just did not get what they were looking for out of it.

I don't like it all. Very thin sounding compared to the "blade" type single coil sized humbuckers I have tried.

My guitar is a G&L Legacy Tribute series. It's a great sounding/playing guitar, for the money. I had a friend of mine who is really good at the mechanical side of it set it up for me.
For me, the bridge pup is a little thin sounding.

I have noiseless pups in my Tele, which is my main guitar. I find the Legacy is just too noisy with its standard single coils. I'm sure I've just been spoiled by the tele, but it's enough to want to take action.

I'm looking at installing a Little 59er, and while I have the pickguard off, shielding the cavity to quiet it down a bit.

Interesting. I am looking to just get a hotter sound.

The other pickups provide the bulk of the Strat quack sound I was after when I bought the guitar, so it's cool if it drifts from the typical strat tone a bit.

Something between P-90 and humbucker would be just groovy.

Which single coil sized option do you think would work best for me.

Had one for a short time.. Was not my thing... Had a SD JB humbucker for a while.. That was cool... Then tried a SD phatcat P90... That I still have. Not single coil sized options though. All this in my strat that is.

I would get a Dimarzio Pro Track for what you are looking for.

I had one in my previous strat...did sound a little thin as what others have said here but I had a blend knob wiring happening so I blended the neck pickup in to fatten the tone a little and I liked that. Maybe try to get the blend mod too in your configuration?
