Tone press robs highs, what else in a compressor

I'm not bonding with my tone press compressor, although it's the best I've tried so far for guitar, but it sort of robs some of the highs and isn't as "snappy" as I'd like, but it does do the infinite clean sustain very well, so I'll probably keep it on the board. But what other compressor does the slamming shimmering chord thing without choking or boxing the sound? I like the clips on the T Rex site for the comp nova. Can anyone who's had one comment on whether they sounded and responded as the web clips make them sound? There's no dealers so I'll have to order it blind.

Are your stings dead? I have mine on almost all the time and I don't have that feeling at all. Try turning the blend knob to 10:00. That will send more of a non-compressed tone and give you more snap. JMO

I just found the Eden stuff today. Turns out a friend of mine owns the company. I walked into a local shop where he was demoing some stuff we chat and he sent me home with a Cold Compress compressor to try in my rack for a few days:NUTS--- sorry but he is NOT getting this thing back!!. I have several boutique and modded compressors here at the house and it flat blew all of um away!! The more I play with this thing the more I like it.
Check Eden out here http://www.edenanalogeffects.com/Effects.html
the compressor and Chorus both impressed the heck outta me!!

I've found the TonePress to be the best out there so far, but my rig also tends to drop high end a bit when I use the TP. I think it's a very rig-dependent thing, as Dave has indicated many time here at the TGP that the TP by itself has a flat response.

I tried the Diamond and liked it alot, but the TP does the sustain-thang a little better - the Diamond had a stronger limiter characteristic, if that makes sense.

As with OD's, we all seem to have different tastes when it comes to compressors. I think I need to continue my search!

About 60% gave me my highs back, when I had one. I think "transparency" is overrated with comps. The TP's color knob adds highs and also some rubber band, which is really needed. I like the AM CompROSSor even better, and it's less "transparent." I like the uber-colored Orange Squeezer better still. This after chasing the big "T" for quite some time.

Have you tried adjusting the color trim pot? That's what it's there for, after all.

The VS Route 66 adds a lot of sparkle. Very nice as a clean boost, plus you get a good overdrive side as well.

Have you ever tried the FX-ENG Mirage ?

It's small and looks pretty simple......but the sound is very very good!

I tested the comp nova.....not as transparent as the Mirage.
