Yeah, I string all of my guitars like that. I find that they stay in tune better. Can you only get one wind because your posts are too short? I usually don't do any more than two winds, since the string is held in place I'm not sure you need as many.

When I was a kid the owner of Medley music showed me how to string a guitar like that. Been doing it like that ever since but with 2-3 winds.

once i get it to over itself the string just refuses to make any more winds-- i can force it but once i start tuning it up those winds just become useless, not actually winded

at step 7 here

I've been doing it like that for years now, but I generally space it so I get about 3/4 of a wind on the peg for the E-A-D strings, and about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 winds on the peg for G-B-E strings. It doesn't slip despite having so few wraps, and doesn't take hardly any time at all to "bed" on the post...

Don't quite understand the difficulty OP is having, so cant' help (sorry).

But I favor this approach as well. I use at least one full wind on E-A-D strings, since once I came up short -- about 3/4 wind -- and I got some buzzing. The three high strings I give a couple winds.

That's how I do it, but rather than the sliding the string under the finger 1 fret back thing, I just run the string up around the next post and make the bend there. Then I slacken the string so the bend is at the hole and wind up- 2-3 winds everytime. On an LP or any other 3 + 3 headstock, there's obviously no post above the D & G strings, so I run the string up and over the end of the headstock, making the bend there. It's almost the same distance, about 1.25".

Looks pretty slick. I have been using the way Seymour Duncan shows on his site.
