DANOCASTER in blonde

A few weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and order a custom tele from one of the well known makers. I was undecided to go with Danocaster, Nash , or K-Line. I was able to get my hands on a few Nash teles and really loved how they played, it was just very hard to get past the looks of them. Just TOO relic'd for me. With all the praise for Dan here at TGP, I decided to give him a call. It turned out he is a way cool guy and really got what I was after in a guitar (a light, resonate, exceptionally playable, good looking guitar).

After a few conversations, I placed the order. We went back and forth to find the right neck profile for me. I wanted a big neck but not NoCaster big. We talked about pickups and what kind of music I play to narrow it down. I ended up with a set of Voodoo pups (broadcaster bridge and for get the neck model).

All this is sort of stressful as I sort of swore off buying any guitar sight unseen. this, however, seemed right, and I am SO GLAD I did. Here's a few shots.

I must admit that this is the finest tele I have ever played. I was in a shop the other day a picked up a custom shop fender and a Hot Rod 52 thing and they did not even come close the the Dano. The guitar is so resonate and soo buttery to play. One thing that I am just enamered by is how it sits in a band mix. It can do clean and jangly or all out balls classic rock. The voice and feel is just spot on. I cannot put this thing down.

Again I am soo pleased with this purchase. I would EASILY buy again from Dan. In fact, I was fantisizing about an Esquire the other day....... Dan is very great to work with and really took alot of time with me to do his best to get me exactly what I wanted.

Thanks. It's an Alder body with steel saddles. I am not sure exactly what you call the color, maybe Dan will chime in.

gtrfinder,
What bridge pup do you have in yours? Looks like the staggered Voodoo. What do you think of it? I think it's great for ballsy rock tones and the broadcaster pup is more traditional tele sounding. I like em both for different reasons.

Wow, good eye.
It is the staggered Voodoo pickup.
This was my first experience with Voodoo's (the neck pickup is an underwound PAF), and I really like them.
The bridge certainly has more mids and a little less highs, but it is not dark by any means. You can tell it is a Tele bridge pickup for sure. It balances very well with the humbucker, and gives alot of versatility to the guitar.
Right now the guitar lives in open G tuning (for Stones stuff), or tuned down 1 whole step to D.
It sounds killer!
