Crate Sale, Anyones Arrive Yet?

Just wondering if anybody who got in on the sale got their amp yet, and if so, tone report? Just curious to see if the beans I spent were worth it!

I have two arriving today. I'm thinking I should have passed because I don't need either one!!! LOL.... but the deal was hard to resist. One 18 watt 2x12 combo and one 33 watt channel switching 2x12 class a combo.

I'm on the "32-day" delay for my V18. Probably never see it.

I have two arriving this week as well; the 18 watt 2x12 and the 33 watt head! Hopefully the hurricane doesn't keep the UPS guy away

My V18 2x12 and V33 2x12 arrived yesterday in fine shape except for a broken, but not off, crate logo on the bottom of one. I only got 10 minutes with them and they seem decent, though the reverb is a bit much over 1. No footswitch with the V33. I have others. I'll try to play them soon. They probably won't be giggers, but good to leave at rehearsal space etc...

Ive had my V18 2x12 for a week and I go back and forth:

Heres what I like:

1) Decent sound stock with the gain about 9 oclock and the level about 3 oclock. If you push the gain it gets muddy.

2) Reverb works ok but over 1 0r 2 its too wet

3) Nice chime and decent headroom

4) seems to be sturdy

what I dont like

1) Its really a one sound amp--for me anyway

2) at 48-50 lbs its pushing it as a quick grab practice amp

So far the good outweighs the bad so at 199 im still keeping it

I think it has more "punch" than say a Blues Jr at a much cheaper price.

My V5 arrived today. At low volumes it can do Beatles-like sounds but at higher gains it gets unpleasant / unmusical. I heard the speaker in these is crap so I have a WGS Veteran 10" on the way. If you do the same, make sure the speaker you get is not more than 4" deep or it wont fit. A 4" speaker will have 1/32" clearance in the center from the chassis.

I'm giving the stock speaker an hour of my drum machine to see if it loosens it up any.

Tubes are Sovteks, fitted an old Brit 12AX7 and that seemed to help. Might get a Euro-made EL84 tomorrow - can I expect an improvement over a Sovtek, or are the Sovtek EL84s any good?

Despite the rumors, the chassis definitely has a normal PT and OT fitted and it looks well made. For $99 anyway...

As a 2001 black, stock GT loaded, VC3112 user, I am curious about the tones out of these, are they improved or lacking, continue....please,
