Which tubes (6v6) for Orange Rockerverb 50?

I'm in need of a retube so I want to know what you think would be my best choice for 6v6's in this amp. While I'm at it though, I thought maybe I should consider swapping some preamp tubes? What do y'all think?

I got lucky. The original Orange labeled 6V6s in mine were great. I've tried a few great NOS tube types (that sound great in my other amps) but they did NOT work for me in the RV. I would consider JJs though.

I've been happy with the tone with the originals too but it's time for a retube, so do you have any clue what the originals are?

I think they were of Chinese origin. They used to have the listed on the Orange site, but I don't think they do any more. I'd contact a local dealer and ask them. Or contact Orange USA (assuming you're in the US).

Post a photo. More than likely they were Orange labeled EH's. If they were Chinese, I don't know if we will be able to tell because every chinese made 6V6 that I have ever seen had the glass blacked out.

I have been fooling around with tubes for my RV50 over the last few weeks (right Eric? lol). I must say the original EH 6v6's were damn good. I bought it used so I didn't know how much life was left in the tubes, so I bought the Tung Sol 6v6's. At first I didn't care for them, but was advised to bias them quite hot (30-34), and now they sound great, and no plate problems. Regarding pre-amp, I tried a bunch, and suprisingly the JJ short plates sound the best for the overdrive, and I'm using a GT12ax7-m for the clean slot. The whole thing sounds damn good - Good luck!
