Tele or Strat which is more classic rock?

Which Fender do you associate more with rock? I go back and forth but generally I think the Tele is more classic rock.

I think the Strat is more associated with rock but in my opinion the Tele is a better rock guitar.

I can't remember but a handful of guys back in the classic rock era who actually played Telecasters (at that point in their careers)... The overwhelming majority of Fender players in those days played Strats...

I find the raw steely tones of the Tele bridge so nice for rock 'n roll

Obviously rock can be played with either, but I'd say the Strat might have an edge on being associated with rock/classic rock. In the realm of country music, the Tele wins hands down. Certainly the Tele can give a Strat a run for its money rockwise.

I think the Strat is the right answer visually but the right answer should be the Tele based on the solo in "Stairway" if nothing else.

Paige ditched his almost immediately in favor of LPs, same with Beck.

Gilmour played way more Strat than Tele.

Howe played everything.

Keef had to install a humbucker, so that's not a tele ()

I didn't even know Howe played a Tele. I always associate him with a 175.

The thing is this, I believe we associate most guitar playing superstars with a certain guitar; but in truth, they played whatever got them the desired sound at the moment. And even though Gilmore for instance is closely associated with his black Strat, several of his memorable pieces were recorded in studio on a Tele.
