Mystery Cabinet

Hey all, I recently acquired a killer Tremolux head with a matching cabinet. I know that tremolux's had 2x10 cabinets but this one is 2x12's. The seller said it was a bassman cabinet? Might that sound right? The back is closed, which seemed weird for Fender.
I know there's ways to find out the date for manufacturing of amplifiers heads and combos, but does the same thing exist for cabinets too? Could it be from the same year as the head? ('66) The way the tolex and grill cloth aging look it looks like they've hung around for quite a long time together.

Also, most importantly, I like the idea of kicking the cabinet back on the tilt legs. I know that the original tremolux cabinets did this too. The cabinet has metal screw things where it looks like you can attach the head so it all tilts back, so I was wondering if the tremolux head can be attached to the bassman cabinet, and how exactly that sort of thing works.

What was the construction of these cabinets? It's quite light, even with two 12s in it. But what was the baffle made out of?

Here's a pic:

It sounds great though...

wow! i recently got a very similar deal.
'66 tremolux and a 2x12 jbld120 cab.
i opened up the cab and on the back panel i think it said "73 bandmaster".
bandmaster for sure. '73 not so sure. the grill cloth looks similarly aged but it's now in my darker downstairs. i would need to go back and scrutinize.

the 2x12 is wider than the 2x10 but the brackets(on the head) do slide out further to accommodate the width. i need to get the thumbscrews and some tilt-back legs.

When I look at that amp All I can think about is the smell of solder because if I owned it I would be replacing all the caps.

Electrolytic caps, plug, and NOS tubes were recently replaced/upgraded. I appreciate the concern! Although, I gotta be honest, NOS tubes I don't prefer to nice fresh ones... I don't care about the difference, they seem to be less noisy.

If I recall correctly, no words are written, but when my extra speaker comes in, I'll check it out again (Had a 8ohm 12 inch lying around, had to order another to wire it up right). It measures up to the specs of a 66ish blackface bassman amp (handle placement, and dimensions) so I'm pretty sure it's the same circa year for head and cab, although different model, in the later 60's fender changed the bassman cab quite a bit, so it's got to be the earlier version.

I think that cab is a Bandmaster 212 cab.

Possibly. The dimensions for a bassman cab and bandmaster seem to be identical... just wonder if one was open as opposed to a closed back.

The bandmaster was a solid state rectified version of the tremolux, right?

No only one version was solid state, the rest had tube rectifiers.
