Tell me about the Klotz Lagrange...please.
I've been using cheap cables (the ones that come with the guitars!), and can definitely hear a difference when I compared them. The ones that came with my Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul are bright and pretty thin sounding, noisy too as they move around. I don't like those George L's where you just screw on the end either. When I use those, I notice my tone has very little low end. Puny sound.
For gigs I always liked this old Peavey cable, because it was warm and thicker sounding, and I do like the cheapie black cables that comes with some of the Fender guitars. I use those in lessons, they have a full tone too. But they don't last so long. I'm wondering how the Klotz is. I want a good 10' cable that has a full, girthy sound. Clear but not thin sounding like some of these cables seem to have. I think I like may even like the cable to roll off a little high end so it's warmer, or thicker. I don't want it to make any noise when it gets stomped on and rolled around on the ground. Last edited by buddastrat; 09-12-2008 at 06:56 AM. |

Real nice cables, with a great clear and balanced tone. I used them for over three years until I found Vovox.
Can't go wrong with the Klotz in the mid-range category! |

I recently went wireless, but based on a TGP post (I forget who, sorry), I swapped out my cheapo patch cables for a set of Klotz LaGranges. I can't comment on the sound since the wireless probably screwed up whatever the Klotz fixed. They're not cheap though. I'll eventually get a 10 or 15 footer to replace my old cable which is no longer useable as a spare.

Klotz La Grange is a great cable and made into the winners circle of the Guitar Player 49-cable round up article (Apr 08 issue). Has a nice low end thump to it without sounding muddy or loosing definition. Sounds real musical with Fender style amps...a lot of my customers really love this cable...

The Klotz La Grange is a very warm sounding cable - some may even say muddy if they are used to much brighter sounding cable. The thing I LOVE about Klotz is the way they sound when plugging into an OD or distortion. That smooth top end and fat bottom end that the La Grange has really helps to prevent any fizziness that those kinds of pedals can have.

I a/bed it to a Monster Rock, and there is really no comparison. The Monster Rock was my least favorite cable, and the Klotz was my favorite.

I didn't mean it negatively... just that it would be good for replacing Monster Rock, I don't know... I was using Monster Rock but never tried Klotz La Grange but from you description: smooth top end, fat bottom, mid-rangey...i could use that to describe Monster Rock so it probably has similas characteristics but Klotz probably does it better...

Hey thanks much for the responses guys. It sounds great. I was reading part of a review where it says it makes it seems like your guitar has a little more output. Do you guys find this?
If I could get my strat's knob to go to 11.. I'd be in Heaven. |

Save yourself alot of trouble and money. Get the Van Den Hul. It beats them all.

The Van Den Hul is just on it's own level of expensive. I'd like to try one though. It's almost 3 times the cost of Klotz, and makes Vovox and Evidence look like a bargain. If you need multiple cables, like I did, the cost can really get out of hand.
