Teye Guitars - La Perla, A Truly Unbelievable Guitar

Hey Guys,
This is such a cool forum and I am so thrilled to share my latest guitar with you. She is called La Perla and is the latest creation from a man I consider to be truly one of the finest new luthiers in the world today - Teye.

Those of you that have purchased a Teye guitar know you don't just fill out a form, send a check and wait for your guitar in the mail, but rather you begin a relationship with the luthier. Teye talks to you about tone and why he puts brass under the bridge pickup and wood underneath the middle and neck pickups, why he uses a single metal pickup ring instead of three separate rings, how his chambering and placement of maple reeds between the pickups alters the guitars warmth. You start to see that Teye is not just an accomplished guitarist and luthier, but a man truly dedicated to his craft. He is never finished making each of his guitars better than the last. La Perla, is his latest creation and I am thrilled to the lucky recipient. She is the #1 guitar of what will be 5 total in his "Fuera de Serie" (outside the series) collection.

I have really enjoyed seeing your guitars over the last couple years and am so glad I can share these pics of La Perla with you. This guitar is truly a departure for Teye and when you see the pics I think you will know what I mean.

Thanks for sharing your guitars we me guys. I hope you enjoy the pics of La Perla.

Dave

***********

I went to Manor Texas to pick her up. Teye gave me a quick tour of his new house and the new and improved studio where he is now creating his new S Series Guitars (amazing guitars in their own right). Here is Teye walking on the "back 40" on the way to his new shop. "Yeah Baby!"

Inside I got to see the next two S series guitars he was building:

And the soon to be finished La Mora S Series (first one!)

Notice no large CNC machines - All Teye guitars are hand made top to bottom.

Then it was off to Teyes personal workshop for the final setup on La Perla by the master himself.

Then he brought her out and I saw her...I just about fell over backwards. The hand cut mother of pearl...green...white...the custom engraving...It was the most beautiful guitar I had ever seen.

The detail is amazing. All of the engraving is done by Teye himself by hand.

Even the back plate is a work of art.

Here is a picture of Teye holding La Perla. He really did not want to let her go. He handed her over to me screaming NOooooooooooooooo!

In case you are wondering. This guitar is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Teye has upgraded his electronics as well and I was able to achieve virtually any sound from this guitar. By exploring different combinations of the mood knob and the 5 position switch and volume knobs I was able to create: A very fat -bigger than les paul sound (a huge wall of sound), an out-of-phase Stevie Ray Stratocaster, a Telecaster and an acoustic guitar (without him using any sort of piezo pickup). If you ask Teye how he does it he won't tell you, unless of course he kills you, but don't let the shape of the guitar and pickup configuration fool you - you really can get virtually any sound out of his guitars.

Thanks for letting me share. I hope you enjoyed the pics! I really hope any of you on the fence in purchasing a Teye make the leap. Alan, Brock, Anthony and the others posting in this forum I'm sure will agree.

All the Best,

Dave

You really have to stop this!!! These Teye Guitars are simply some of the best looking, finest old world craftsmanship I have ever seen. I am so jonesing for a La Perla, La India and La Mora, it is unbelievable. Plus, from my email chats with Teye, he is one of the nicest persons I have ever encountered. I really need to move to Austin.

Congratulations on your new guitar.
All due respect to all other small luthiers out there, but for my money Teye makes my favorite instruments.

She is a beaut, but do you really have to parade her around town like that? I mean...Sweet Jesus, she's wearing nothing but pearls! I start to shake and cough when I imagine my hands all over her curves- with ther skinny waist and that big round a*s! Excuse me, I need to get a glass of water.

You know I usually frown on guitars heavy on ornament, but these guitars are just absolutely beautiful guitars. love it.

I get paid next week, and then it's going straight to Teye.
Your La Perla is heart-stoppingly beautiful. I wish you
many happy years together. I pulled out some of my Joe
Ely CD's recently and was really digging Teye's guitar
work.
