Anybody know these speakers
I just ran into a homemade cab with EW 1275-8 speakers. I have deducted they are 12" speakers rated at 75 watts and are 8 ohms each but can't figure out the EW code

Here are the codes for most speaker makers:
http://www.webervst.com/morecode.html see if you can find a code similar to one on the list. The codes are typically found on the frame (i.e. not on magnet or cone) |

No stenciled on codes just what I listed on a sticker affixed to the outer rim of the magnet

The EW could be a model, or a manufacturing code. Might not mean anything. Are there any other markings on the speaker. Got any pictures?

I've seen speakers like this before in a no-name Canadian cabinet. Unfortunately, I don't know if there's any way to be sure. If there's any codes on the cones, that might help, I know someone in the cone business who might be able to track who ordered them. Pics might help. That said, there were a lot of speaker manus during the 50s-70s that are long since defunct and may not have been big enough to rate the EIA codes that Flux pointed out...
