All of Whitley's stuff is worth checking out, but the album "Din of Ecstacy," from which "My Heart Is Ready Now" comes, is just jaw-dropping. Amazing tones, songs, singing, you name it. Can be found used for very cheap on the net, and totally worth hunting for.

Great music!

I keep my copy of "the Din" in easy reach. I view this disc as sort of the musical equivalent of a magnesium flare, so brilliant that it's almost difficult to look at or contemplate. I just love the way the guitar is driving so hard it's like a wild animal struggling to get away from Chris before and after many of the songs. The title cut is one of my favorite rock songs of all time. A very passionate guy, gone too soon. And this disc has great cover art by "trixie" who I believe is a child of Chris who was quite young at the time. Highly Recommended on all fronts!

Hadn't listened to this artist, but I'll definitely be checking out the recommendations here. Crushing bass line on that first song!

It's the first record of his I knew, and my favorite. This mix (the link) sounds different than the CD version.

I am embarrassed to admit that I was completely unaware of Chris Whitley until splatt's post. What fantastic stuff! In addition to "Din of Ecstacy," what other albums of his would y'all recommend?

WHY THE HELL wasnt this guy widely known on a larger commercial basis?

Feel free to shed the light on any other musicans you think we might be missing.

Reminds me a little of this guy http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...iendid=4882013 check out the song Rosie.

(I think he is another guy who deserves recognition..IM thinking he still may get his due.)
