Easy Bar Songs to Stretch out a 4 hour night?

My self i like doing original's but some of the "Bars" want that familiar tune, what songs are really simple but yet dance friendly? You know with out beating the song down to learn it. Crowd age is from 30's to 50's? I have a few in mind but would like opinions? We always would do Sugary? Angel From Montgomery, Burn One Down, etc...

Movin on Over by George Therogood (I'm sure my spelling is off), you could stretch that song on the entire set if the guitarist is good enough of an entertainer!

If I'm not mistaken, there are a whole lot more verses to that song than George did on his hit recording. Learning all of those would be one way to stretch it. So would making up a couple dozen more.

One of the classic jam-it-out 3-chord rockers is "Cocaine" as popularized by EC. My blues/funk/jazz/jam band manages to get about 20 minutes out of "Take Me To the River." Speaking of rivers, NY's "Down By the River" is another traditional long jam song.

Jailhouse Rock has a boatload of lyrics, so with a solo between every couple of verses...

Feelin' Alright, 2 chords that can go on forever LOL

+1 That would have been one of my recommendations. Willie and the Hand Jive can be stretched like crazy too.

Voodoo Chile... Same deal, you can jam this one till the cows come home, or at least untill the lead guitar player breaks a string.

Mony, Mony.... The girls love it, and you can do the verse, chorus, solo, breakdown routine over, and over, till the girls cant dance anymore.

+1 on the JailHouse Rock suggestion....just be ready to remember all those words, and be ready to spit em out FAST. Cause if your band is anything like mine, that song will always end up getting played about twice as fast as Elvis ever did it.

Cheers!

Awesome!!
Thanks!

ARS's version of Spooky is long, with lots of room for improv.

Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting ALWAYS gets the crowd rocking, and there is lot's of room for various solos on the outro chorus. You can stretch that one out forever and they'll keep dancing til you're done....

Roadhouse Blues...... They'll dance and sing along with that one....

Long Live Rock by The Who is easy to learn, and surprisingly, gets them going every time.

Keep Your Hands to Yourself..... Easy and popular......

Most any Stones song is not too difficult, and go over big.

ANYTHING by Skynrd......

There are a ton of them......

I've seen people make some long songs by doing medleys of songs w/ Bo-Diddley beats: Willie & the HJ, Who Do You Love, Not Fade Away...

Tommy and/or Quadrophenia in their entirety are crowd pleasers too.

If you're going there then any of the Beethoven symphonies can eat up a lot of time. And chicks love dancing to Mahler...

LOL You win! It's like a collection of dance hits with a solid 4/4 beat.
