Uh, Jamie....I know it's the pot calling the kettle black but....ahh- I think you have a problem-

That's a lot of guitars. Apparently you like PRS (15) and Teles (12)?

Hey! One of those PRSi isn't mine! (the White Mira)

Plus, the amber SC (the 3rd form the right) is also gone!

Jamie

P.S. OTOH, not pictured is the new McCarty 57/08 sitting across the room on a stand and the SC HB I picked up this week... So I can't argue your point...

Here's my office renovation I completed last year.

My side:

Wife's side:

I built all the furniture except for the Modernica daybed. Believe it or not it was my wife's idea to hang all the guitars up. I have 6 more in the hallway as well.

I like those last 2 very much...

Guitartech...I think my room will be designed close to that one. That is what I had in mind.

The new color palettes are what are called "Starbucks" colors, and I think I might go with that darker, cozy look.

The display of your axes are very tasteful. We have similar amps. I need room for my '73 Marshall 1/2 stack, but the combos look great. I might do the same for my '66 Vibro-Champ, '60 Tweed Deluxe, '63 Champ, and '62 Brown Deluxe.

I am also going to frame and matte some of my favorite album covers and old concert promos...nothing too big...just small pieces here and there.

That's Chiba's and it schooled me on the virtues of Miras at the ThornFest a couple of weeks back!

my room is tiny, bit I need one.

you'll want a comefortable place to sit

as well, have a stool.

you will want an amp (or more), room for your effects, if you use any, and I'd recommend a stereo powerful enough to complete with your amps so you can play along to the music you like.
beyond that, I dunno. I hang mine on the wall.
oh, perhaps a book case, good for storing magazines and books on guitars. (why not have it all in one place?)

if you have the space for it (I don't) I like the previoulsy mentioned idea about having a work bench/tapletop area suitable for performing repairs. Get/make yourself a neck support block.

I have a futon acting as a firm couch if I want that, but if I'm going seriously play I'll either sit on a stool, or stand. a medium height stool is perfect. a bar stool is too high.

DFBurst - Congrats on your new space! I pulled some material from another post I made on the forum and I hope this helps.

If at all possible, do a double wall assembly and ceiling with double sheetrock with green glue between the layers. It will isolate the room from the rest of the house. Also, put in a double solid door assembly if you can.

I started with this. The 2x8's in the ceiling between the house trusses are for my studio ceiling. This room doesn't touch the house anywhere.

Looking back toward live area. Cases of Green Glue in lower left corner:

I just put regular R-13 insulation in the walls (from Lowes):

Right here you can see my double wall assembly with a gap between and the double sheet rock. The inner side doesn't touch the house structure anywhere. What I have found after doing this is that its not really the volume that disturbs things, it is the vibrations. With my amps cranked the walls shake big time, but it doesn't matter because they do not touch the house:

Here is some green glue oozing between the double 5/8 inch sheetrock. There is almost $1000 just in green glue around this room.
It takes about 30 days for it to set up properly. Do some research on it. It is basically a dampening material and when sound hits it, it distributes it better and the by product is heat. It also cuts down on a lot of the vibration when you have things cranked. I want to get a JBL Eon G2 15 PA system with woofer so I can work on leads to backing tracks I have written. With everything cranked there shouldn't be a problem or any "Turn that down!" noise coming from upstairs:

This was after my crew got all the rock up and I installed the track lighting (from Lowe's):

Then I had the floors acid stained and etched and put an Owens Corning 703 cloud above right in the middle of the track lighting. I just went down to home depot and bought 1 bys and painted them black and then covered the 703 in white muslin. Everything I have read has said "Live floor / Dead ceiling" so if I were in your shoes I would not do the carpet:

I found a great argosy mixing desk on craig's list for about 40% of a brand new one so I drove over to Charlotte and picked it up. I also bought the rest of the 703 panels and as you can see, I still need to get them covered and permanently mounted. It also looks like the dang floor needs mopping -

But I am waiting on covering them because I recently found out that some people think that 703 emits formaldehyde and there are long term exposure health risks so I got an air quality test kit.

You can see it hanging right in the middle of the 703 here. The black bass traps in the corner are just doubled layers of 2 x 4 703 panels.

By the way, a great source for purchasing 703 to cover them yourself is ATS Acoustics.
They will ship you a box of 6 for only $79 - Oy, such a deal. http://www.atsacoustics.com/item--Ow...f-6--1004.html:

It is also a good idea to do a double solid door with an air lock between. Home depot has them pre hung:

I hope this helps you understand a little bit more about doing this type of thing. I studied the John Sayers site and a couple of others for about a year before doing this. Afterwards I could not be happier. I just wanted to be able to Jam as loud as I wanted without bothering anyone because I hate using attenuators. I succeeded - It works great.

** As an update, I recently got the results back from the formaldehyde test and it passed with flying colors:

Here are some current shots. I am going to try to finish covering the panels this weekend - finally!!!!
