I agree 100%. Which is why I'm very excited about the 19.

A few years back, Frankenstrat2 and others put on a ToneFest in NYC. They recorded it and I got a copy of the DVD from him.
Jackaroo, I think, was one of the primary players (with good reason!). His run through with a Gibby R9 and a Connie/Bob Burt 112 (again, I think) was the highlight of the DVD for me.

Unbelievable...closest I ever came to sounding that good on a Les Paul was playing through a cranked Allessandro CoonHound into a 112/EV SRO.
THat was sweet too!

That was exactly what hooked me too, Steve!

I don't know if you recall, but the Constellation didn't fare well at the Tampa Tonefest, the year it was released .... for whatever reason, it just didn't sound all that good at that show. So I had kind've written it off, until I saw the NYC Tonefest DVD ...

Well Mike,
Great ears hear alike!
I didnt hear the Tampa clippage (if there was any).
That NYC Tonefest, though, was excellent!

I've had my Connie 3 or 4 yrs now, and while I do not use it as my main amp (unless its an outdoor gig) I think it is such a unique and great sounding rock/blues amp that I will always have it in my lineup.

I run mine through an open back B Burt 1x12 loaded w/scumback H 75 HP, a great combination.

I think the 6SN7 has to be a good one or you get results like Tampa. If it is that amp is awesome, and then some.

Anyone care to comment if they use the footswitch feature or just combine the channels and call it a day? I just bought one today.

Footswitching is nice. Here's a trick - use the higher gain octal tube - 6SL7? Give you 2 gain channels which sound different and both clean up when you turn down the guitar volume.

Enjoy that bad girl!

That was actually my amp. It was a Connie running into a Germino 2x12 with G12H30's. Jack was playing my R8 with Voodoo 59 HB's. I still kick myself for selling that amp, but I just could not run it the way it was meant to be played. I had that amp for 5 years, which is a record for me!

I found that out tonight. I got my old Komet back, and it sounded good when the gain channel was in.

However, it was muddy with only the clean channel on. I swapped 6SN7's and 12AX7's and...WHOA!!!!

Clean Chimey cleans...super clear gain. Just SUPERB!! You NEED great preamp tubes with this amp.

Now to play with the output tubes...
