Fuzz Face Shoot-Out

Just a run through with 5 different Fuzz Faces - and you can come to your own conclusion of what sounds best to you.

1 - Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face (Dunlop RI I'm Refurbing - just need the DECALS! - it's Germanium)

2 - Analog.Man's NKT-275 Sunface

3 - MJM London Fuzz (Germanium)

4 - Deviltone "Jezebel" (Silicon)

5 - BYOC Fuzz Face Clone (Germanium)

I'm using my Strat into the JTM45 with the Amps Volume on 2.

Interesting.

One correction, it isn't silicone, it's silicon.

Just a foible of mine.

I have the Sunface with Sundial, the one thing I notice about it is that it becomes a bit dark when compared to my amps OD channel.

For some reason it really goes a bit heavier in the bass when switched on.

I wonder if Mike would have an answer why it does this?
And what does the white trimmer do inside the box?
Seems like it is a gain trimmer?

Nice comparison, I think I actually liked the sound of the silicon prototype fuzz better on your demo.

Thanks - The white Trim Pot in the Sunface is a "Sensitivity" knob - it's like rolling your guitar down to clean up.

I'm REALLY digging this Sili-CONE proto... :AOK

I like the warmth of the blue FF and the bite and clean up of the Jezebel.

Thanks guys - I have another project in the works that I'll post as soon as it's finished! :AOK

I'm really proud of this Prototype - It just sound so good to me. It's got that fat round low end that Germanium are known to have - and it cleans up REALLY well. Not as well as the Blue Fuzz Face or the NKT-275 - but it is pretty nice!

Thanks again for all the kind words! I really appreciate it!

They all sound good. I could not pick one unless I played it myself.

I really thought I liked the BYOC after I finished it - but then I got the electronics done in my Dallas Arbiter "Refurb" and I liked it better - now I have the "Jezebel" and It's just sick.
