I left college to pursue an exciting career in public accounting. I'm no where close to the musician of any of the members of Crowder's current band. I just happened to be fraternity brothers with the guy who started University Baptist in Waco. They needed a bass player, I had just purchased one months earlier after noodling around on guitar for several years.

Crowder was a character. I hope to connect with him again one of these days.

He's awesome!!! Have you seen the Passion '05 DVD? I'd like to read his book as well.

Two cool songs to play are Switchfoot's "Dare you to Move" and "Meant to Live". They're good because people in the church know those and the kids, who for them, is their first time.

The Easter program at our church started with "This Is Your Life" by Switchfoot.

I don't even want to play clubs anymore. The music is great...the atmosphere's positive...my kids can come see me without smelling like smoke or getting a beer spilled on 'em. It's all good.

Be ready for a lot more of that Swarty. Playing with loops/tracks and/or a DJ (as DCB does) is gaining favor very quickly w/ the younger crowd, and many artists are following suit. It infuses R&B along w/ techno, trance music, etc.

I think that it is obvious that this kind of music is much better to dance to and get people riled up... hence it's apparent significance in a lot of new worship.

I played that at a church in HB this past year. It was about the only time I was happy to use my PODxt and atomic. I was able to do that synth part at the beginning of the song. Fun stuff

Loop tracks or in. I think it's a cool way of hiding a click track and making you stay on time.

Sometimes it's not possible to reproduce a song without a track. Especially DCB and Chris Tomlin. Now you can do something that I think is passable. But to truly repro what was on the CD it may require a track.

DCB & Chris Tomlin have a lot of layered guitar parts. Another good example of this is FFH. I prefer to not use a track. If you have to use a track I'd prefer it be one you create yourself.

Speaking of tracks...our guys recorded a track for that synth part. PODxt for that? Very cool! I had a PODxt briefly. Looks like I shoulda looked at it a little more carefully.

Actually...one of the guys I play with has one of the Line6 FM4's. I've been pretty impressed with some of the synth sounds he can get.

I kinda like these guys. I have their 2 CD's. "Blood Of Jesus" off their first CD is kind of 60's jangly 12 stringByrd's thing sounding.

We had FFH at our church last year and I did not detect a track...nor when I've seen Chris Tomlin, the songs were stripped down a bit, but it's been that way since the advent of multi-track recording. Oh, well, I guess I'm just an old coger that thinks playing with tracks is on par with Milly Vanilly... But hey, the message is there and the kids dig it so it is indeed a fine thing....

I love Big Tent Revival, what ever became of them?

Man, this is an old thread. One of the first I posted on.

It's so old that since it started, I switched from the Carmen Ghia for the church gig to a Behringer V-Amp Pro and now a Pod XT Live.

The beat goes on.

Looks intersting...but could not find a sound clip on the site?
