DM-2 vs. AD-9 vs. Ad-80 vs. AD900

Right now I'm using a DD-5 as my main delay, but I can't stand not having more than one lol. I'm looking for another delay to cover reverby tones and to kind of "fill out" lead lines to give a little extra dimension or ambience. I've searched around here and came up with these:

DM-2
AD-9
AD-80
AD-900

I've tried a Carbon Copy, and did not paritcularly care for it. Although I would like to keep it analog.

Has any one tried/use any of these? Compare them?

add the analogman to that list.

i'm a bit tired from typing all day. . . but

yes. . . they are all a bit different.

i liked the clarity of the analogman compared to a dm2. then again, i prefer the dm3. . .

the ad900 is excellent!!! a bit more expensive and . . . well, bigger.

the newer ad9s are cool, but SOMETHING about it didn't seem super-cool to me.

no hands on experience with the ad80, but for some folks it is the IT.

me. .. i'm waiting on the DMM XO.. .. assuming it hits the USA.

also, for the record. . . the analog sim in my dd20 was/is a total winner in a blind test between it and a dm3. . . so the dm3 went back to my cousin. the TONE knob on a dd20 really makes quite a difference. for ME, the dd20 is the shizzle. i just want the dmm b/c . . . nothing else can really do that wobble.

It sounded good to me bro. You definitely are getting good tone out of that rig and you SHOULD be questioning the thousands you have tied up in all that other gear. I think I need to go look in the mirror now.

The DM-2 will do something for you the others won't. As to whether that certain something is your bag of chips, I dunno. I reccommend giving the DM-2 an audition.

IMO, the AD900 is the best at what you are looking for. The AD9 is good, but delay times are a little short for ambient, reverby delays.
The Analogman is killer, but I think a little too clear for the subtle ambient delay you're describing. The AD900 is built for the task.

DM-2 I've had two units for over twenty years and there is always at least one on my board.

+1 The DM-2 just sounds amazing, especially if it is an early one with the MN3005 chip. Don't worry about about the buffered bypass either. It is very good on the early Boss MIJ 2-series pedals. I'm really picky about this and I find the DM-2 to sound perfectly acceptable.

Yeah that chip sounds good in every analog delay I have seen it in. My blue Echodrive has 2 of them.

Thanks for all the help so far guys I appreciate it

It looks like theres a lot of votes for the DM-2

I've owned a DMM and I liked the way it decayed, but maybe a little too bright for my tastes.

+1 on the Dm2 - it really 'melts' with your guitar, creating this spacey, but not messy, ambient sound. IF that's what you want.

Might want to look into the RetroSonic delay as it is supposed to be based on the DM-2 but has more features and you can switch between 2 preset delay times. Not a whole lot of discussion around this pedal but I've been itching to try one as I like the DM-2, but if I can buy a brand new pedal that sounds the same (and supposedly with less noise) then why not go with new.

I haved the DM-2 right now and I'm loving it. The Analogman AR20DL is a really good option as well, it's a little more clear than the DM-2, but it's super musical. Love that one too.
