Smile Bogner Alchemist Head & 2x12 Cab In Action: Live Video...

this rig was dropped off at the club, plugged in, fired up(with about 2 minutes of turning the knobs and getting acquainted), and then we were off to the races! this was my "soundcheck"(1st tune of the night) for the bogner alchemist, monday night last week @ the baked potato club in studio city, cali.
busting through both channels, boosts, and the on-board effects....

http://www.johnzguitar.com/JZmonjamzbogalc1.wmv

please pardon the long winded, over-excessive usage of notes and the clams! that's what our monday nights are all about...
making mistakes, working out the demons, and hopefully having a blast along the way.

in my opinion, the alchemist is pretty much a suped-up fender with a really bad attitude. LOL
40 watts of 6L6 power with a reinhold-tweeked front end and few extra modern bells and whistles ta boot.
the 2x12 half-opened cab seems to be somewhat based on the '90s buzz feiten design...
square box, diagonally loaded with celestion greenback and 30.

there's a few things i defintiely don't dig about the amp(which are simply personal preferences),
although, overall for what it is, so far it's good times rockin!
jam on!

Nice and warm sounding... in fact, does anybody else think its sounds exactly like a decent Bassman? It sure does to me (this is a good thing)

thanx very much for checking it out and commenting!
it's for sure a different set up than what i usually use(100 watt with closed back 4x12 and series effects loop).
the new bogner is pretty damn nice though(including it being "different")...personally so far, it's a keeper!
plus, it's got that "easy to play" bogner thing going on, that he seems to slip into all of his models.
good stuff!

thanx a lot!
all the gain is from the amp.... i went from clean to clean boosted, and then crunch to crunch boosted.
the amp does have a really smooth tone to it...kinda in that cranked fendery zone.
40 watt 6L6 style amp, 2 x 12 openback cabinet.
it's definitely fun to play on!

thank you much!
umm, i wasn't even gonna say anything, but there are indeed a few things i'd change.
again these are totally personal preferences(in a nutshell)....
-a series effects loop and effects, not parallel as they have it.
-a global master volume and presence control, to control both channels overall.
-closed back extension cab(with casters), since they already have open back a 1x12 and 2x12 combos.
-the echo tap tempo included on the 4-button footswitch, instead of reverb(which i never really mess with once it's set).

i could go into long dissertations on each one of these points,
and there's a few other specific things i could get into also, but again they are my own preferences.
overall though, the amp sounds great(both on the clean and crunch) and has a killer aesthetic.
if you can, check em out and see whatcha think for yourselves...
you'll probably dig it!

there's a parallel effects loop(send and return) with a level control on the back....
plus the delay(which is tap tempo) and reverb are also in parallel, both can be found on the right side of the amp's front panel.
these are models taken directly from the line 6 tonecore pedals "Echo Park", and "Verbzilla", with a little tweaking.
so i was using the echo and verb from the amp....
all the modulation stuff was from my pedalboard.
indeed check em out, the alchemist is a very cool amp!
