Trans-Siberan Orchestra: good for kids?
Looking at taking my kids (5 and 8) to the Trans-Siberan Christmas concert thats being held locally. I think they'd enjoy it but just checking in with others if they have done anything similar and if they think kids will enjoy it.
thx

Play them one of the cd's. If they like the music, they'll enjoy the show most likely.
Have them use earplugs though. Never too early to protect your (their) hearing. --chiba

Yeah, I took my son when he was about 5 or 6. It was his first concert.

TSO shows are definitely the most diverse crowd I've ever seen at a concert. Your kids will probably go crazy over the light show, pyro and snow alone.

I've seen them 4 or 5 times and, apart from the aforementioned advice about protection for their ears, I would say they are very much kid friendly... and awesome musicians to boot. :AOK

Yes, but .... it gets a little boring, esp. for 5 & 8 & it's EXTREMELY loud, but in general, the show is fantastic :AOK
*A little off topic, but the female lead singers are H O T !!!!

The light show and the pyro were bitchin. I'd think kids would dig that. Plus they're right at the age where x-mas is huge so I think they'd dig it all around.
I took my 70 year old mother to see them last year and she's been asking me about going again recently.

My 8 year old loves it. We took her to her first show at age 5 or so. It's a hair loud but not too bad as long as you don't get too close.
She really likes the girl violin player, Anna Phoebe - inspired her to take up the viola. |

I saw them a couple years ago, I saw all ages there. They might not "get it", but the lights and "stuff" going on may entertain them.

The altrenative is Manheim Steamroller if TSO does not hit your area. Both tour about this time of year. Can I say Christmas Music?
