I had the pleasure of playing 2nd guitar on Astronomy live at a club in 1997 with Buck. I still listen to the tape from time to time.

Don't know how I forgot, but the outro to The Killing Moon by Echo & Teh Bunnymen gets me every time.

Oh yeah! Good one.

One of my favorites is "Born To Move," on CCR's Pendulum album. The song sort of ends, then a second section starts with a spare bass solo over I and IV. The bass gets more involved as the drums come in and after a while a Hammond solo starts and the whole thing just gets more and more intense and goes on for quite a while. I can't recall offhand whether it fades or not.

That album often gets a bad rap, but I wore out a few 8-tracks of it back in the day. "Pagan Baby" is a killer set opener, too.

It's funny you mention that one.....
About three years ago my kid had to audition to get into Berklee, so we joked that when he walks in, sits down, he should say....
"Now I'll do "You Don't Love Me" from Fillmore East starting at 11 minutes in where Duane begins noodling".

Good call!

It's the first CCR album I ever owned and one of the first albums I ever owned. That's probably why it's my favorite.

Currently enjoying the work of a smokin' female quartet known as The Nickorettes, comprised of Melanie Haver, Audrey Farber, Susan Underhill and Betty Jo Bialoski.
I caught their act at The Old Same Place.

Slightly different style than most of the suggestions so far, but I have always had a thing for "Only in Dreams" by Weezer.
