AC/DC Black Ice...their best effort in years (merged)

Had a chance to listen to their new album... won't say how, but what I will say is that you guys are in for a treat!! It's out on the 20th.

Great classic rock in the midst of the steady stream of pop garbage playing on the radio.

#53 on xm.. that channel has caused a ACDC personal revival for me.. Forgot how much I liked them growing up and never really realised how much influence I got from them till now. Spent about an hour yesterday jamming some ACDC riffage through the old Marshall .. such a simple yet effective sound they have. i have to say I am as much into their Drum/bass groove as I am the guitars. The Brian era is a bit more polished and tends to not use the humor angle that Bon sometimes did but it to me is equally as great and important to Rock and Roll. I have favorites of each era and cant say that I have EVER heard an ACDC song that I didnt like!

I have always favored the Bon era but since having the xm channel to listen to bother eras back to back for extended periods i now simply proclaim that AC/DC ROCKS

Heard it today. I thought it was pretty good actually. Some of the same old same old on there but some pretty innovative stuff for AC/DC too I think. How often do your hear the Young's playing slide???!!!

One of my students brought it in. Great sounding classic rock disc, of course it doesn't hurt that Brendan O'Brian produced it.

I thought it was well done recording wise, Some great tones.. but somewhat of a letdown overall when it came to the AC/DC Rock department. I was hoping for more stuff with attitude. I give it a 6. IMO

I was going to go buy it on Monday, but I decided I'd better listen to it on their website
first and I'm glad I did. They need to get Mutt Lange back in the producer's chair or hang it up. One decent song (RnR Train) does not a make a cd. Save your money folks.

Great lead tones. Some of the fire is gone, as a friend and total AC/DC nut says. However, in comparison to the dreck out there today..it is a diamond.

"So Angus some people say your band has made the same album 13 different times."

"That is an outright LIE! It has been 14 times!"

I love that quote (can't vouch for it being true). What's the current AC/DC album count?

I bought it this week, and I like it a lot. I think it's their best effort since For Those About to Rock. Definitely better than anything else they've released in the past 20 years.

Brian Johnson's sung lyrics are pretty much undecipherable, so it's a good thing the "blue" package has printed lyrics. Otherwise, I really dig the songs. The guitar playing is a little cleaner than is typical for ACDC but the songs rock. And there are some good new sounds to be had too, even if everything is still in the key of A!

Where else do you get to hear the Young Bros. play slide guitar?

It's a good album with some rather innovative (for AC/DC) songs. And great guitar tone.

I just got it the other day and haven't spent a whole lot of time with it but so far so good. Rock N'Roll Train didn't do much for me there are several tunes I'm digging alot. It's no BIB or Highway (how could it?) but it's a solid record.
