Tweed Bassman with Red Fang speakers, thoughts?
I just got a Victoria Bassman and am very happy but I also can't get past the sound of a Victoria deluxe I heard with a Celestion Blue in it. This deluxe was far and away probably the best sounding deluxe I ever heard. My thought is ithis, how would a Bassman sound with this type of speaker in it? I'm thinking it would sound equally as beautiful but since I have not heard the red Fang speaker I'm not excited about scrapping $600 together for a gamble.
Anyone try the 10" version of the Eminence Red Fang speaker? I like the amp the way it is right now but if in the future I wanted to make it even better I would think this change might be something to consider. Right now my amp has the Jensen's in it.

There's another thread on the 10" Red Fangs today. I've got the Genz Benz Black Pearl 3x10 with Red Fangs, and I think they sound very good, but I've haven't had the chance to play it out of the house much. I'm a big fan of the Red Fangs, largely based on the 12", and I have also been very curious how they would sound in a Bassman. I think they would sound very good, but may give the amp a little bit of a British accent, perhaps more of a Marshall or Vox voice. I don't think that would be a bad thing, just different. The biggest drawback would be cost...four of these babies would cost $600, unless you can swing a deal on them.
I wish I could be of more help. John |

I have two Jensen C10Q's, one 10" Red Fang, and an old alnico speaker which I believe is an Eminence from the 80s in my tweed bassman clone. Sounds great and once I get the cash, I am going to put another 10" red fang in and take out the old worn out alnico speaker

Right after I posted my response to this thread in October, I started playing with a band, and actually am on my third one since then. I've used my 3x10 Black Pearl at at least a dozen gigs, and the amp and the speakers sound fantastic, both with and without pedals. I can't really say the tone is Vox, Marshall, Fender, etc, but it's a fantastic tone for classic rock and blues. I think four of them would sound great in a Bassman. Sorry I can't be more specific other than giving them a thumbs up.

I have a 4X10 Bassman RI as well. I would try the eminence Ram Rods. I really like them a lot...great break up. My amp has 2 of the Ram Rods and 2 of the original Jensens. Try swapping out only 2 at a time. Keep in mind the reissue Jensens have an extended break in time. They sound pretty good now !
