336-style guitars

How many different versions of this mini 335 have Gibson produced? Off the top of my head there's been;

ES 336
CS 336
ES 339

I seem to remember a TD version of the 336 (with block inlays) and there was the Keifer Sutherland model... Anything-else? Also, what are the differences between the models?

Cheers.

What's the difference between a woman and a guitar? None of us seem to mind our guitars being practically worn out by any number of other men before we get our hands on them.

I've been thinking the exact same thing after having tried the es-339 the other day. I was really amazed by the quality of the finish and its huge sound, i only played it acoustically though. This is going to be my next guitar!

Back to topic,
After I came home I did some research on the different variations of the 336-type and found this:

The biggest diffference is that the 336 has a carved Mahogany back and sides with a carved Maple top. The 339 is made like a 335 with laminated woods.

Can't think of other Gibsons outside of a couple of signature models (Leroy Parnell). The Epiphone "kat" series are similarly sized and constructed though: body machined out of a block of (joined) mahogany, flame maple top. The are pretty nice for the money.

what probably should have been the "hello kitty Gibson 336"...okay, its the lame actor guitar. btw, it plays and sounds killer and i got a good deal on it so i'm keeping it (probably couldn't sell it anyway). the cert is a good kitty box liner.... I put a fender sticker over the signature on the case until i can figure out how to take it off--i tried pulling it off with masking tape but need a better idea. probably not screw with the back of the neck and just live with it. i do love the guitar otherwise. i think they quit making them already--not too many folks willing to spring for something this strange. had they just introduced it as a 336 variation, it would have done much better is my guess, but hey I'm not a big-time MBA working in the Gibson Marketing Department.

Yeah, but look at it. It's a goldtop 336! It's beautiful! And we all know how much better goldtops sound than the same model with a different paintjob. Who cares whose name is on the case? I'd have one in a heartbeat! In fact, I'm off to eBay right now...

There's been a bunch plus ibanez has the am series of guitars which are similar. The smaller gibsons like the 336, 346, 356 I never cared for. Neck heavy and plinky sounding but the 339 is fantastic. One of the best guitars they've made IMO. I've had a few of them.
