Anybody else like Joe Jackson?

I just bought his newest album, "Rain" and I am thoroughly convinced that Joe is one of the most under-rated artists to come out of the "new wave" era. I went back and bought his "Body and Soul" album which has "You can't get what you want" on it- Incredible horns.

Then there's "Beat Crazy"- "Jumpin' Jive", etc. What an artist!

Anybody else like Joe?

Good enough for Anthrax, Good enough for me!

Joe Jackson did a live version that I've heard only once, that made the Anthrax version sound pokey!

I don't know his material that well, but I've always liked everything I've heard. I should check out more of it.

Been a Joe fan for a long time...the live 2-disc set 1980/1986 is great, highly recommended and Look Sharp is a classic.

He's a great artist

I like most everything he's done but mostly prefer the early records ( and I mean VINYL )

Graham Maby is a great bassist and brought so much melody to the songs

Yes, I love Graham's playing. The new wave stuff of Joe's is what interests me too. I believe the common comparison to Elvis Costello is very much because of them both having killer bass lines in their songs. That and their song writing was way above anyone else in that genre at that time.

Just saw Joe with Graham and Dave Houghton the other night at the Portsmouth Music Hall. Great stuff. I've been a big fan since "I'm The Man" came out.

Big +1 to comments about how good Graham Maby is.

...as good as his recordings are, his live shows absolutely kill...he always finds new renditions of his older tunes that are fresh and inspired and his bands top notch....if he's in your neck of the woods be sure and catch his show....

We listened to Look Sharp all week long on vacation this summer. Love the songs on that one.
