OCD and JCM800 questions

I have read a lot of praise here regarding the Fulltone OCD. I have a JCM 800 4010 combo and I was wondering if this pedal is a good choice to replace some of the more popular OD pedals out there(Bad Monkey, modded SD-1)? I find that tubscreamer type of pedals add too much mids. Does the OCD keep most of your original tone intact?

I'd be curious as to what others think, but I tried this at a Guitar Center, and thought the gain on the OCD was way over the top, as I normally use a TubeScreamer.

Go down there and give it a try if you can. I almost ordered an OCD without trying it, and glad I didn't. Seemed like two different worlds, compared to the TS.

I just bought a brand new Fulltone OCD after have never tried one before. I owned some of the original Fulldrive II's (orange) and just didn't think they were that great compared to a lot of the stock overdrives I already had so I assumed that the OCD couldn't be that much better. BOY!, was I Wrong!! This pedal whips the crap out of every OD pedal I own! Retaining the tone and mainly the Low End. Hands down the best OD pedal I've ever used with my Mesa's and Marshalls! Don't know about the tone of the different versions but the version 4.0 is perfect for my applications.

I didn't even know that Guitar Center carried the OCD. I will have to try one out. Does the pedal add a lot of gain even in low settings? I just want to run the "level" high and the gain low and use it as a boost to my amp with the pre-amp on 10.

Certain GC stores carry Fulltone products. Our Nashville store carries Zvex as well.

The Guitar Center by me carries alot of Fulltone products, OCD included.

I've run my OCD at 9 volt on LP/HP and 18 volt on HP/LP into a high gain amp... Splawn Quickrod (think hot rodded Marshall.) I like 18 volt HP best for boosting.
Level high, gain low... keeper, keeper... it does the job very, very well. I dont run that much gain on my amp though man, 10... yowsa.

The OCD is great for the use you describe... It does not add alot of gain in lower settings.
