Vintage frets or medium jumbo (6105's)

Would love opinions on this. What do you use and why?

On a 9,5 radius neck.

I like small vintage style frets; I'm used to them and they don't get in my way. When I play a guitar with big frets, I feel like I'm always dragging my fingers across them and they slow me down. I don't do a lot of wide bending, so the chief advantage of big frets doesn't help me.

I prefer the vintage frets. I play very hard and have a death grip. If I use bigger frets I'm usually sharp and not in tune. I feel that the vintage frets make me dig in for the tone.

Jumbo gives me easier bends and just feels "right" on a 9.5 board. IMHO

I use tall frets on everything - 6105,6100,6000 sizes.
Some people like tall frets, some don't. It's all personal preference.

in a perfect world? bar frets (.070" high).

scalloped board with 6105s (no top taken off) is fine and dandy as well.

Stewart MacDonald sells a fret size, at Dan Erlewine's request, that is like 6105 but slightly less tall. Sounds perfect to me, I'd consider using that the next time I need to refret, it's right in between vintage and 6105.

6105 are tall narrows, 6150 is medium jumbo,
6100 is jumbo.
I personally prefer 6150's, with 6125's (from USACG, a hybrid between tall narrow and med jumbo) a close second.
6105's feel a little like speed bumps.
6100's I like on bass guitars. I just think they hog too much wood space and are too big on guitars.

It's all a matter of personal preference.

I agree with all that Steeltoe is saying except that I prefer the 6125 from USA Custom Guitar first, 6105 next and then depending on radius either 6150 or 6230 as my third choice.

I wonder how close 6125 is to this fret size Mr. Erlewine has recommended to Stewart MacDonald.

In truth a lot of these sizes are not precise enough in their manufacture and one source's 6105 might be lower and fatter; it is worth it to find out.

The bigger the better, especially for bluesy, bendy (is that even a word??) styles. I admire you guys who do well with those dinky vintage 'paper clip' frets, but I lack the finesse.

I consider 6105 standard. I also use 6100.

Boy, I like the looks of those bar frets!
