Bananas for 3 Monkeys

Man I went bananas:AOK over Brad Whitford's tone after seeing him on the Experiance Hendrix tour and had to see what his rig was. After a little research I found out that he has started his own amp company called 3 Monkeys and was using their amp on tour. Luckily I found some sound clips on the web and it was all over for me and had to get one despite swearing I would not by any new gear this year especially with out actually have played it myself (hey I told myself that if it doesn't arrive before the new year then it doesn't count, right?).

So the order is placed and now the wait begins. Anybody out there actually have hands on experiance with one of these bad boys? I'll try and post my review once it arrives.

Here is a link to some the info and sound clips that did me in:

Thanks,
"D"

I would love to hear the reviews as well. The clips sound great, and the build quality looks top shelf. Anybody out there have one yet?

Great clip (as usual). You seem to always be able to coax that sweet powertube phasey distortion from your amps. Dig it!

Why am I not surprised you already know about these, Matte (GRIN - Dude - you're SO ahead of the curve!) I heard my first clips two days ago - YOU already have one on the way!

I heard e'm on Cliff's website - Lance Keltner playing - they sound absolutely WONDERFUL! Bet they feel great too.

Congrats Matte, I can't wait to hear YOUR clips, Dana O.

What is a "cathodyne phase inverter"? It is listed as a feature.

The purpose of a phase inverter is to provide 2 signals that are 180 degrees out of phase with each other. These signals drive each half of a push-pull power tube pair.
The split load or cathodyne phase inverter only uses one tube stage, and has unity (or less) gain. It's one of the most common PI's found. It's used in Fender Princetons, some Gibsons and Ampegs etc..

Some reading on the topic:

Great cleans (and an outstanding and interesting track as usual). I read in another thread that you had the amp dimed for the distorted clip. How much range is there with more modest ammounts of volume differences? I guess I'm asking is this really an amp intended for moderate sized stages, or can it still deliver the goods at lower volumes (studio/small stage)?

Thanks,

Edward

the 3 monkeys website is very cool and unique.
One of the best manufacturer pages i've seen.
I'm very intrigued by the originality of this amp.
i hope to play one soon.
