Ooh La La Cobalt - anybody got one? How does it work?

Just picked this up and done one gig, didn't have a lot of time to tweak but sounds pretty good as a boost, confused about the controls though, 4 knobs; Volume, Bias, Drive & Gain! Never seen this layout on a pedal, seems more like an amp?
Are these the people who were Blackbox?
Have to say looks amazing, hand painted job, pretty cool.
Any thoughts?

Ooh La La builds and sells pedals previously designed and built by other companies like Effector 13, Black Box and Bruce Bennett Music Labs. So Ooh La La are not the same people as Black Box.

The Cobalt was designed by Black Box.

Here's the original description of the knobs by Black Box:
  • Gain - Controls the amount of input gain. Use the Gain knob to pad down the input signal to prevent the Cobalt from overdriving and adding dirt into the signal. Alternately, the Gain knob may be used to overdrive subsequent stages, providing a nice tube amp overdrive sound at unity gain levels in conjunction with the Drive and Bias knobs.
  • Drive - Controls the secondary boost gain and amount of overdrive. Use the Drive knob to fine tune the amount of overdrive or clean boost.
  • Bias - Controls the signal bias which effects the amount of signal headroom, compression, waveform symmetry and "crunch". Counterclockwise provides more headroom and less signal distortion, clockwise provides more compression, overdrive and assymetry of the waveform. Use in conjuction with the gain and drive knobs to tailor your sound.
  • Volume - Controls the amount of overall output volume and gain.

The Blackbox pedal is a very neutral sounding overdrive. I think the quality is fantastic. It will give you some good grind without the fizz and loss of tone. Highly recommended, good stuff.

I played one yesterday. It sounds great. I've never played an OD that was so fat yet clear, crunchy yet articulate. I think it's worth $$.

Exactly!!
4 months on and a load of pedals have come and gone, the Cobalt is going nowhere! Love it.
