? for all you Fulltone Fatboost users

I am currently using a fdII and an OCD. Love both pedals. I also am using a Klon for boost duties. Though the klon is a nice pedal but, regarding price and size, I don't know that it floats my boat that much. I really have never been disapointed with any fulltone pedal that I have tried. So how does the Fatboost stack up?

I find it ideal to boost for lead/solo stuff that needs compression...It compresses.

The Fulltone is supposed to compress a little, hence the "Fat" in it's name. This works well for soloing, but I've seen people who just leave it on all the time as well.

i have had the Klon, and sold it, and regret it....its great

i have the grey original fatboost and need to sell it...it is a great pedal too...its different than the Klon...much more low end and a drive control.....don't bother with the FB2...

Get the fatboost II, that pedal is very nice. It's a completely different thing then a Klon, it tends to be more clear sounding throughout the entire range where the Klon gets real midrangy the higher to turn it.

I have both the fatboost I and II. They are very different. The Fatboost I is fatter sounding the fatboost II is thinner. They are both great pedals. The fatboost II will add sustain for solos, it comnpresess nicely.

Another option is a RGW Bad Bob, same circuit as the Fat Boosts, but without the extra controls to mess up the tone, just volume and sweet full boost.

I gotta say, I am having a tough time convincing myself to not sell the klon. I had rehearsal last night and just went into an FDII into my Carr Slant6V and it just killed. I have been using the Klon for about 3 years now and though I like it, not sure I wouldn't be just as happy with another (smaller) clean boost.

To my ears, the lows were there and the mids and the highs.....it just made everything else sound better....but alas, i sold it....what a shame....i need another...but that's a lot of money too

I'm really enjoying my Fatboost II, especially on low-volume gigs where it does a very passable job of making my amp sound and feel like it's a few notches higher on the volume knob than it really is. I find that, in those situations, the mild compression and just-over-the-edge light breakup (while maintaining the same tonal balance, at any gain setting) are exactly what's needed for a lot of the tunes I play. I like having the separate gain and output knobs along with the 2-band EQ mini pots.

But here's the thing: for it to perform at its best, I find the FB II really needs to run at 18 volts. I use an external 18 volt "power supply" consisting of two alkaline 9V batteries rubber-banded together and attached to a doohickey consisting of two battery connectors and a power plug (see Fulltone site for instructions on how to build one.) At 9 volts, the FB II seems kind of bland, but at 18 volts it sounds nice and juicy.

Was there a fatboost 1b or somthing? I have a gray one and the controlsare labelled level, input gain and tone. The tiny knob being the input gain instead of being the tone knob???
